Prices on the Riviera

Is anyone finding the same problem finding housing cheap enough on the Riviera? We have been here almost 6 years now and still can't afford to buy a house - the only properties within budget seem to be large apartments, but with 2 kids we need a garden.

So looking at a move over to the Var as property looks to be cheaper.  Anyone else done this?
