Top Blog Tips: Part 3

So you've been around the blogosphere a while eh? Well if you've already checked out my original 5 Top Blog Tips (https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1762) and 5 More Top Blog Tips (https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1771), here are a few more gems:

11. Install a translator plugin
Ok, translators are never ideal, nuances are often lost but they still break down barriers. Though I spent several years in school learning French, my lanuguage skills are not good enough to fully understand French websites but with the help of translations tools, such as Google Language Tools (http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en), I have started browsing and enjoying several French blogs.

12. Host a carnival
So you've submitted an article or two but have you thought about hosting? Carnivals will draw a lot of attention to your site but of course it requires a commitment on your part to sort through entries and post information on them.

13. Improve your aesthetic value
Most blogging software allows you to choose from a variety of templates. Change the colours a bit, add pictures to your blog and avoid large adverts. Also, we all have occasional mistakes, but please make sure to use spellcheck!

14. Be a guest blogger
Remember how I said you should ask a friend to guest blog while you are on holiday? Well you can offer to do the same for your friends. And who knows, if their readers like you, they may continue to follow your regular postings when your friend returns.

15. Don't forget your archives
You have probably written a lot of great stuff that never saw much traffic in your early days, do a round up of articles that originally sparked interest, interviews, features or put a series together in a thematic format.
