Doing Online Marketing - Self Employeed or?

I am thinking of moving to Mauritius and would like to know if anyone has done this and is receiving their income from online activities (Adsense, affiliate, ecommerce or similar)?

Would you be considered self employeed, a business owner or something else?

Also is it true that the general tax rate is 15% no matter the source of income?

Thanks,
Mikael

Re: Doing Online Marketing - Self Employeed or?

Hi,

You'll be a self employed if you have no employees. Yes, you'll pay 15% tax.

You should have a look to the Mauritius guide.

Hope this helps,

Julien

Re: Doing Online Marketing - Self Employeed or?

Thanks Julien. I'll definitely have a look at that.

What I forgot to mention was that I wasn't planning on creating a company (necessarily) in Mauritius. Which I guess would mean that I was receiving an income from a company in another country (I believe that I read somewhere that it might be beneficial to receive is a dividend).

I understand that I'll need to talk to a tax laywer/accountant about the specifics but I was curious to know if anyone else had already done this.

Thanks for helping me out.

Mikael
