Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

Well it seems I am in quite a bind.

In an effort for California to be a "green" State, or to save a tree, they no longer  mail out hard copies of teaching credentials (as of 2008). They only offer electronic or online copies that can be downloaded. Well the Ministry wont except this thus won't wont issue the NOC/ work permit. They want a hard copy.

Has anyone have any experiences with this?

Can they not be printed once sent and downloaded?

Yes, but the ministry does not think its suitable. They want a pretty diploma.

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

I would hunt on line and have someone create one for you. They won't know the difference. wink. Dang man Kuwait is behind the time.  But trust me if you knew someone there or made the right friend trust me it would not be a issue.

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

eeekkk I am not comfortable with that, I have to get it notarized by my government.... I don't want to perjure myself

But it is sad that they are so behind on the times. I mean whats wrong with doing electronic things- its more efficient and more environmental.

Thanks MArquis,

This whole process has been annoying to say the least.

Ok, so i got it figured out!!

Did you guys notarized and authenticate your teaching credential? I'm getting mixed answers on this.

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

I started that process but then was told by HR at my school not to. She told me to bring official copies of all documents to Kuwait when I go. That's a good thing too, because I sent my transcripts and stuff off over a month ago and still haven't gotten them back.

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

I had to get my actual diploma notarized at every level (college, the county of the college, the State of NJ, and the US State Dept.), get a sealed transcript from my college and also some form from studentclearinhouse.com and submit all of that to the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Washington.  Unfortunately, studentclearinghouse.com has my name in their system incorrectly and it has been a week and I still have not been able to get them to correct it.  Because of this, I haven't been able to submit my forms to the Embassy yet.  But once I do, they will authenticate everything and return it to me and I will take those authenticated documents to Kuwait with me.

I wonder why you had to do all that, but the employees at my school weren't that we didn't have to?  Hmmm...

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

I have heard from other teachers and none of them have done this step.  However, since my school wants it done, I'm doing it.

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

I don't know about anyone else but this process has been quite a headache without much support or guidance. Can't wait for it to be over!

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

That step was in the initial directions I got from my school, but then I met someone else going to my school. She told me we didn't have to, so I then had it confirmed by HR. I had already spent money starting that process with one of my schools and on the police clearance the school told me to go ahead and get. Then found out the tidbit about the police clearance had to be dated after the NOC. I've now learned always to double check directions given by HR. big_smile

So yeah, ksfm12, it has been quite frustrating with little support, direction, and all kinds of misinformation. I am ready to get there already! Lol

Re: Teacher from California---HELP NEEDED (or Canada)

I think it is a good idea to check to make sure people don't have a criminal background if they are going to be working with children. However, some of the steps just seem tedious (such as having the police clearance only after the NOC is issued).  Also, from some of the things I have read, it seems that many people get into Kuwait without even doing this stuff and then just leave the country every couple of months. No matter where you are, it is the people that do things the right way that have to over compensate for all the people that do it the wrong way.
