Hi all,

Can a foreigner take the driving test in Argentina?

What are the formalities to get a driver's licence in Argentina?

Do you need special or extra documents being an expatriate?

How much does it cost?

My impression is that having a valid US license and passport are adequate. I've not heard of anyone having trouble, including me.

For Europeans, The International Driving Permit IDP is sufficient. Like most things though, such as mobile phone contracts and bank accounts, add the obtaining of an Argentinian driving licence to the list of impossibilities for expats without a DNI (Argentinian National Identity number).
