Any Filipinas out there , I'm coming soon

Hi, I am still contemplating on whether to visit russia or not.  I have read of not so good things about the country and this discourages me.  I hope to get more info about life in Moscow and how is it like for an asian like me to stay there.

Re: Any Filipinas out there , I'm coming soon

Mabuhay!
Greetings from Kazan, Russia!
First, I want to say I am not  a Filipina. I am an American man living here with my Russian wife.  However, I can give you some information about Russia if you wish. My brother, married a great Filipina lady some years ago. Now they have 4 beautiful children.  Recently they relocated to live in Oregon. For many years they lived in Palompon (near Ormoc)Leyte.  They were all very happy there but my brother felt that the children would get a better life and education in the States.

Of course Russia can be a very interesting place to visit.  Certainly Moscow with a possible side trip to St. Petersburg would be a great travel experience. Probably you have traveled to other foreign countries? There is an expression in Russia; "Moscow is not in Russia".  This is because now Moscow is a fast paced, exciting place to visit, like any big European capitol., beautiful old churches and many different cultures.  Whereas as life in the provences can be boring with nothing to see there.  I know this to be true, I have traveled all across Russia over the years, from Vladivostok on the Pacific side to Moscow. Plenty to do and see in Moscow, museums, shopping and so on.  Keep in mind that Moscow is more expensive than Tokyo, New York or London.
However, there are some decent but not so expensive tourist hotels also. Also, I would recommend to you a good web-site for some great information on Moscow. It is: expat.ru

As for your personal safety there in Moscow; is quite safe, police are everywhere, especially in the tourist areas. There are plenty of good foreign resturants too.  Bear in mind that compared to Filipino food, Russian food can be dull and boring...so bring a bottle of patis and bagaoong in your suitcase.  I hope this helps. Good luck!

Just at the first of the year there was a lady from Cavite? (spelling) in the Philippines with my school, her contract ended and she went home, but she loved it here, never had any problems or trouble.  Just like any foreign traveler any where in the world, you have to be careful and always aware of whats going on and who's around you, but this racism is way over blown, Moscow is one of the top tourist spots for Asians now, Chinese, Japanese especially come here.
