Accomodations in Krakow

Hello,

My family and I are moving to Krakow mid-August this year.  We are looking into accomodations and have found that there is quite a lot to choose from when it comes to long-term rentals.  We have narrowed our search down to the Old Town or Wola Justowska.  While we like the idea of being central, we are concerned about safety as our children are still quite young.  Is one area safer than the other?  And when it comes to Old Town, are there certain streets/areas we should be concentrating our search on which are generally safer or preferred for expats?

My thanks in advance for any help -
Gail

Re: Accomodations in Krakow

Hi Gail
I'm quite new here in Krakow but, as far as I've seen, safety is not an issue here.
I live close by the Old Town (around 10 blocks away) and do not have any issues nor complaints; where you want to live, I guess, it depends on how close to your work you'll like to be but, basically, most of the places around the Rynek Glowny (Main Square) are good, safe and nice places to live.
Should you need any help to get a place, you can contact Dorota Zarytkiewicz with Hamilton May her office phone number is +48 12 426 51 25 and her email address dorota[at]hamiltonmay.com
She'll help you out to get the right apartment in the perfect place and the most convenient price.
You can use my name to introduce with her (Cheslavo); wish you good luck.
Regards.

Re: Accomodations in Krakow

i would go after the Wola Justowska - it's not far from centre, there's decent tram and bus connection with Old Town (about 5-10min). Old Town in Kraków is very noisy, even during the night (lots of clubs, pubs etc.) and it's not very good place for a child. Wola Justowska is nice and quiet, lots of green areas, perfect for a kid. and it will be lot cheaper than Old Town. It's my humble opinion smile

Re: Accomodations in Krakow

Thank-you both for your responses.  They have been very helpful.  CKinKrakow - We will get in touch with Hamilton May as suggested, although it appears there is little for rent in Old Town at the moment which would work for us as we require something furnished with 4+ bedrooms and nearby parking.  There was one listing which is now showing up as rented which would have been perfect.  In any event, perhaps they can help us find a place in Wola Justowska.  Kifus - I agree with your assessment regarding suitability for the children.  We currently live in an area with a lot of green around us for that reason.  Originally we thought this might be a good chance to show the kids something different, but in the end, having some space for them to run and play can only be a good thing.  Thank-you both again - your input was much appreciated!

Gail

Good!!
Yeah well Hamilton is one of the multiple realtors you can contact; that's the one I used and Dorota was very nice and to the detail when it came to signing the lease.
Another one I saw the other day is Daniec see what they have available.
Wish you the best.
