Anyone currently residing in Managua?

Last I checked, when I introduced myself in this site, we were preparing for our post in Nicaragua. Feels like ages ago as we finally moved here in Oct 2006 - with 2 months stay prior in Costa Rica for some intensive Spanish lessons.

I still take Spanish twice a week and speak it everyday - good or bad Spanish (make that every waking moment) . Tengo dolor de cabeza y de la lengua a veces, entonces, tengo que hablar Ingles con alguien para relajarme. sad All those lessons and I still can't speak proper Spanish. It will come (I do have 3 yrs wink to learn it).

It would be nice to sit down, have coffee (they have great coffee here), one lazy Central American afternoon and just chat away about anything and everything under the sweltering Central American sun - in English smile.

let me know. Ciao.

Re: Anyone currently residing in Managua?

Deedee, my daughter will be spending about 6 weeks in Managua starting May 18, 2007.  She's 20 years old and speaks some Spanish.  She's a smart young lady - she is studying international relations in college and she has lived and traveled abroad.  Her boyfriend was recently posted to Managua and she will be visiting him before going to Washington, DC for an internship.  Would you be able to share any advice for her about where to live?  Cost isn't a huge issue, it's just that I would like something more interesting and liveable for her than a hotel.  Thanks.

Re: Anyone currently residing in Managua?

Hi Diego,

Below are some links / contact info of lodging places in Managua that I would say are quite central and reasonably priced (except for #3, bit on the high end). If I'm not mistaken, all 3 has internet connection and 2 of them has pools.

I'm traveling to the US and the Phils end of May until July which means that your daughter and I can meet up for coffee within her 1st week here.  That'd be nice.

Hope these helps:
