Living and working in Thailand

Hi guys and Gals.
Having visited Thailand on many ocassions , it has forced us to seriously think of moving and setting up base there.
Looking at Phuket to settle , and hopefully work.
Can anyone give advice on how easy it is to obtain work , and the sort of cost per month for a decent living.
