Changes To Residency Requirements

It is no longer necessary to have your passport translated into spanish.

The Interpol form that you get locally needs to be legalised before submitting documents for permanent residency. This is not the FBI form that is used as a police check. Although this also needs to be legalised if you have one.

Only 1 set of authenticated documents need to be submitted to Migraciones for permanent residency instead of 2.

Re: Changes To Residency Requirements

hello dirtysanchez

i am sorry you misunderstood my post.

you must obtain a police check from the country you have been resident for the last 5 years.

the interpol is a local check done in paraguay and is in addition to the police check.

i've looked at your profile. as a canadian, i see no reason why an FBI check should be necessary as this is an american agency with no jurisdiction in canada.

if you wish to contact me privately via the expat blog, please supply an email address so i can forward information.

saludos cordiales,

ariel ortiz santander

Re: Changes To Residency Requirements

I was reading the banking requirements on applying for residence. My representative told me I needed $5000 dollars U.S for deposit. I was reading that it is no longer required. Can anyone clarify this for me? The man assisting me is Hassengruber Herbert. A very pleasant fellow. I thought maybe the change was very recent or it was just a rumor.

Re: Changes To Residency Requirements

They have changed it back to the required $5000 in a bank account or property of equal worth.

Re: Changes To Residency Requirements

hi all, did my residency and the only problem that I had was that you had to go in the exact order that they have on the list of things to do. I am married to a Paraguayan so that made it a lot easier. For those who are married to a Paraguayan, go get the "repatriacion" done first (This will save you millones). With the "repatriacion", all of the "paper fees" are free or at least 50% off. For us, no lawyers were needed and the $5,000 in the bank wasn't needed.
We tried to do it without the repatriacion but were given advice from someone in the "Migracion del Exterior" to do that first. Thank God she did because that made things so much quicker.
Sorry but I can't give any advice on those who aren't married to a Paraguayan.
Good luck, Ryan
