Introduction and also Social Work query

I'm new to this forum and still finding my way round everything. I have lived in the UK my whole life, but I am in fact a dual-national (British/Australian). I am planning on moving to Australia, hopefully autumn time 2010. I already have my Oz passport, so obviously no visa complications. I also have family in Australia, so it is likely that I will have support when I go over.

I am studying for a social work degree at present which, fingers crossed, I will have completed next summer. I am looking at the transfer of my qualification, but I would be grateful for advice from any social work/social care expats out there about transferring over and getting work etc. (or anyone that knows really)

In Britain, social workers need to register with the GSCC and it is pretty much impossible to get a job as a social worker without this registration. However, my understanding is that in Australia this is not exactly the same. Am I right, or is it practically impossible to get a social work job without registration?

Looking at some advertised jobs, I don't see many for social workers (although I have not searched widely), but I have noticed that there are several social work roles, but they use different job titles. Do I need to refocus my job search to take account of this? Is social work not really a job title?
