Buying property in Uganda

Hi,

can a foreigner buy property in Uganda?

If so, is it complicated? What is the process of purchasing a property in Uganda?

Any tips for buying property, such as a check-list of items to verify ?

Thanks in advance for participating!

Christine

Hi Christine I think you have asked a great question I too am curious about this maybe we have an expert out here who can shed some light on this subject.   any help would be appreciated     P

Hi There!!
Yes, you could buy a property in Uganda, it is easy not much complications except for some checks from the land registry office, muncipality and above all from whom are you buying and where are you buying.
Is is commercial/ residential etc.
If the land is under a kingdom like Kampala the you could only lease it for 99 years which once agaian is transferable.

Regards and best of luck

Hi Christine,
From my first hand knowledge, according to the law, non nationals are not able to purchase milo land titles (milo meaning land titles that are not included within the 99 year lease range)
I do not know if this extends to land titles with 99 year lease options.

Good luck
