Moving to Calgary, Alberta

I intend to move to Calgary, Alberta when I have secured a job offer as this seems to be the most efficient way of obtaining a visa.  I have an 8 year old son and am anxious with regard to how he will settle in.  How would people rate the education system and any recommendations with regard to same? I have just qualified as a social worker after completing six years of study including BA and Masters, there seems to be work but would anyone recommend recruitment agencies etc.?  All advice very much appreciated.
