Student Moving to Paris

Hello

I am 23 and am starting a 2 year masters in Paris in September. I have never been before and I don't speak French but I am looking to rent a room.

I know that there is not such a house share culture in France but I would be grateful for any information.

Do you know the best way for students to find accommodation? Or just any average room?

Thank you for your help

Jessie

There are more and more housesharing(colocation) in France, it's became the best solution, specially in Paris where the squared meter is so expensive.
Here are some sites:
http://www.colocation.fr/homepage.phphttp://www.colocation-sur-paris.com/http://www.recherche-colocation.com/paris.htmlhttp://www.colocation-paris.eu/
I don't live in Paris, nor do I share a flat, so I don't know how good those sites are. let us know !

In general the French don't like to house share in the same way as the Brits, but you can certainly find opportunities - Jo Ann's links should help. Do becareful what you sign up for. My partner's colleague is your age and had problems with her boyfriend so recently went for a house share, whilst paying the owner on the black (cash in hand, undeclared to the state). She got a small room, and another girl was in the other bedroom, but she then found out the shared living room was used by a guy living there. She's managed to wriggle out of things before moving in and found her own place at a reasonable price, but despite she hadn't moved into the first place the owner wouldn't give her back any of her deposit. The depressive guy she didn't even know was also very upset thinking she could have been his new girlfriend!!
I'm sure most experiences are a little smoother, but do your research and double-check what you're signing yourself into.

try appartager.fr as well,  there are stacks of people looking for roomies, but do it soon as september was impossible to find anything!

im a student too and i used parisattitude.com to find an apartment. they are very helpful and can give you almost any type of apartment you want anywhere in paris.

welcome :)
