Moving to Beijing

Hi Im coming to Beijing December 1st to work for Disney English for 1 year, I know its five weeks away, but im sure the time will come around quick. Has anyone got any ideas which will help my transition run smoothly, I think everything is in order, but as im sure you will know moving to another country is daunting and it would be great to get some tips from other people whom have already experienced.

Re: Moving to Beijing

Hi Jacob, it sounds like you've already done a fair bit of planning so apart from that there's not much else you can do before you get here other than relax (easier said than done I know!) Beijing is a crazy place to live, but in a good way and you can just throw yourself into it when you get here.  Maybe you can look at some websites like the Beijinger to look at the cultural/sporting scene and you can research anything you'd be interested in! Hayley

Re: Moving to Beijing

Hi, ive arrived in Beijing and discovered I am going to work around the EC mall area of the city, I need to find an apartment close to the mall, if you have any information of this area or good estate agents to contact please forward this on to me, I am interested in renting a 2 or 3 bed apartment.

Thank you Karen

Re: Moving to Beijing

EC Mall ie central Zhongguancun.

Karen hi send me a pm with your email address and budget range and I'll try to think of an Agent to match.

If you are low budget then the easiest will be to pop into one of the local Estate Agencies.

HomeLink for example is a franchise chain of Estate Agencies, quality varies a tad from location to location but as a rule of thumb they seem to be okay. However, it is unlikely that they speak English.

If your budget is not low-end then the English speaking Agents are an option.
