Bangkok 2 Saigon Cycle Challenge: fundraiser Mt Bike ride, Nov09
Any cyclists out there who would like to join this amazing 1,100km mountain bike ride that I organise each year to raise funds for deprived children in Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam?
Departs Bangkok early morning on 7 Nov 09, arrives Saigon afternoon of 21st, passing through Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) and Phnom Penh. It is a fully supported event with back up/luggage vehicles, cycling guides, radio communication, GPS, spares, medical kits, etc. Hotels with breakfasts (all) and dinners (most) included.
The route takes us down to the eastern seaboard of Thailand and across the border to Cambodia into Pailin, the former Khmer Rouge stronghold and gem mining town. Then by boat from Battambang to Angkor Wat. 2 day stop there to visit the temples before continuing to Phnom Penh and down the Mekong River into Vietnam's Mekong Delta area. 4 days in the Delta following tracks and trails with numerous ferry crossings, small and large - very colourful. Strenuous in terms of distance but not in hills (a few on the Thailand side). Partially on black top road but plenty of off road too.
