Public transportation in Porto

Hi all,

What do you think about the means of transportation in Porto ?

Is the network of means of transportation well developed?
What modes of transport are available?

Do you use them?

How much is a fare?

Are they relatively safe?

What is the mean of transportation you use the most in Porto?

Thanks in advance for participating!

Re: Public transportation in Porto

Hi Armand,

Transportations are really bad. They are quite safe.
The metro goes everywhere but to Porto, I mean all the lines pass on the same place and then it only stops in the social neighborhoods before getting out of the city again and go to the farest cities possible.
So the main transports here would be the busses but they take a very long time to go from one place to another.
I live in the centre and to go to my work in foz, I needed to take 2 busses and it took me 1 hour. Now i go by car and it takes me 10 to 15min depending on the trafic.
The fare depends of the nr of zones you want to go trough. It is a mess! The centre is already devided in 4 or 5 zones while in all the other european capitals there is one unique fare.
The minimum (2 zones) is 1 euro and the cards can be used in metro or busses. It used to be possible to take the tram too but now you can't anymore, they decided that it was only for tourists and that you must pay 2,50!!!
In other words, live close to where you work or get a car.
