I am a Frenchman. I moved to United States when I was 35 years old. Before that, I have evolved in corporation doing sales and marketing. This is precisely because I didn't speak English that I moved to US. I must say there was at an unconscious level a deep attraction for America. It wasn't really related to the present, it wasn't either related to some sort professional opportunism, it was more of something related to my imagination fed, in my youth, by books and movies. It took me quit a long time to understand, at least to adjust to the American society. There was the language barrier but more important the ability to grape what is behind the words, and the way we put words together and the musically of a language who give, all combined, so much information about the people we live with and its psyche. It is in United States that I discovered my interest for wine. At first, I did all sort of jobs in order to survive, in San Diego, I worked for an artist as one of his assistant, in Venice beach, I worked as a cook for catering company, I worked also as painter. I even, while crossing the country for the second time, heading East, worked on a shrimp boat, and Oyster Boat. I would eventually ended up in the restaurant business, working as a waiter, bartender, managing small places and being little by little, specially in Aspen, where I lived 4 years, looked as a wine expert. I went back to West Coast for a tasting tour from Washington state to Napa Valley. United States was my greatest adventure even if sometimes it was rough. It was very educational, I learned a lot about myself. Now I live on the Riviera, I am a certified sommelier, beside other activities. I am a sort of expat and I would like to be able to work as an interpreter.
