We are a couple of Canadians as well as Europeans. Both retired last October from accounting practice and enjoy living in the beautiful Ecuador right now. Between two of us we already lived on 5 countries, speak several languages and travel to many places. Before retirement and careful planning for the last 10 years, we considered many countries, France, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico and some others We chose Ecuador for several reasons: Climate, we love ocean and chose to live in Manta, but considering Cuenca for extended visits. Friendly people Diversity and beauty of the country Cost of living is somewhat important, but not deciding factor. We also planning to spend extended time in Europe and travel to other places, but Ecuador will remain our base. Adapting to different culture is not an issue, challenging yes, but also gives us many opportunites and new experiences. We enjoy beach time, local dishes, reading, jewellery making, painting, photography, cooking, socializing, volunteering,meeting new interesting people and just living in this beautiful country surrounded by wonderful happy people.
