I am not yet an expatriate, but I am looking for information about life abroad.

I am American, and I would like to live in Saudi Arabia. I am currently in oxnard.

About me

I have been offered a job in Riyaud. This job also includes living in an established compound, car, mobile.
How does the standard of living compare to the USA?
Food costs?
Petrol costs?
Clothing?
Housing if I decide to leave the compound?

As for the compounds.
Do they have grocery stores? Clothing?
What types of entertainment are available? Golf? Movies?
Bars? Parties?
Are most compounds wired for high speed internet?
Can I get cable TV?
Any restrictions?

How is health insurance usually handled for expats in KSA?

I would like to visit historical sites in the middle east. Most of these are religious to some degree. What can you tell me about travel experiences?

Anything would help. I have a very good paying job here (six figures). The offer in KSA is twice what I currently make and I run my own show. However if all I do is sit home and count my money then it isn't worth the move.
