I moved to Macau in 2008 - not that long, really, but I've seen a lot of people come and go. Life here is pretty good, but it definitely takes adjustment. Overall, I'd call myself lucky to be in Asia and not the West.
I joined expat.com on 19 March 2012.
Until recently, work had me back and forth between Macau and New South Wales (Australia). The company sells BI and CRM software to casinos, and then implements/trains users. I launched the Asia-Pacific region.
Everything is different from the States!

Worked at a small start-up software company which specialized in the gaming (casino) industry. The job involved a lot of travel, so I got to visit parts of the US which never would have made it on a road trip itinerary
Vegas has everything you could want for a grown-up vacation. Restaurant selection is amazing, it's the one thing I really miss.
The weather is awful.
I got my first taste of Asian lifestyles while living in Oregon, and I was hooked.
Beautiful place to live.
Not a lot of career opportunity
college, first real job, etc
mostly backpacking...and the occasional odd jobs to make a bit of money so I could do more backpacking!
just growing up. :)
