About me
I am a retired American expat living in the Philippines. After many years of divorce, I remarried in 2007 to my beautiful wife, Elma. We live in a large American-style condo development just outside Metro Manila. While she is away during the day involved in her teaching position, I spend most of my time developing my website, www.bjruth.com, "Mabuhay! Greetings from the Philippines." The site offers information to people who are thinking of retiring to or just traveling to the Philippines.

I am currently living in the Philippines since June 2007
My occupation:
I took early retirement, and made the decision to move to the Philippines because of my then fiancee and now wife, Elma.
What I like about this destination:
My condo is located in a large American-style development with most of the same conveniences as in the U.S. Entertainment and shopping are just a short distance away.
What I don't like about this destination:
Traffic can get very congested in this area, but the noise and smell are far enough away from the condo development that it is not an anoyance.

Long Beach, California
I lived in the USA from July 1944 to June 2007
My life & projects in this location:
I moved to Long Beach from West Los Angeles to be closer to my work assignment at the time.
My occupation:
For over forty-five years I worked in the banking industry, starting as an assistant teller, and retiring as a senior manager. I was involved in both consumer banking and real estate lending.
What I liked about this destination:
The Long Beach-Los Angeles area was my home beginning in my teenage years. My family is there.
What I didn't like about this destination:
Just like any other large U.S. city, the area has its anoyances.
