Introduction
My name is Sandra Smith. I have lived here on and off for 30 years. I now live here with my English husband in the Eifel. We have lived in East Germany before in Erfurt and Waltershausen. We found it quite different there to here. We made a lot of music as a music duo with folk, country, rock and popular songs. Were quite popular. Now we live here in the Eifel and it is very quiet and not so lively as where we have been before. I also gave a lot of English tuition, both privately as well as in after school language institutes. Now I am not so busy because my husband is very sick and I need to look after him. All in all I have enjoyed living in Germany and have made it my homeland. Could not imagine moving back to England again. I also have a son here who is half German living in Frankfurt.

Expat experience
Self employed and looking after my sick husband as carer.
The countryside is very pretty. Lots of places to go for walks.
Long way from the shops. Must have a car to get around. No transport to get about. Hard to make friends. No chances to make live music unless you are coming from this area.
Making music in duo
It was too quiet and unfortunately, we couldn`t speak Hungarian and it was too difficult getting around.
