About me
I am an Australian lady who runs an agency for expat housing called Shanghai Properties (http://www.shanghaiprops.com). I moved here in 1994 to work for a Japanese real estate broker and got hooked on the city, the culture and finding homes for people moving here. I remember arriving here and it being so communist, so run down and dirty, everything looked like it needed a good dose of TLC. People lived such simple lives and had to endure many hardships. I can't believe the massive transformation of this city in such a short time. The changes are both a credit and a shame rolled into one. Credit for the improvement it has made to the lives of the local citizens but a shame that families and neighbours have been forced to move far away from their local areas. I enjoy the huge varieties in lifestyle that this city has to offer. It seems to have something for everyone. I enjoy introducing my city to new arrivals, helping them getting their bearing and getting them the best deal possible on their new home.
