Introduction

I just left Puerto Rico where my stay was three months. I had always been going there since a child, being born and raised in New York City. My experience these three months were horrible. It just happens my mother passed away while I was there, and I witness people were like scavengers attempt to get her belongings, they don't ask what one wants for a item they want it free, actually asking for it as a gift. The government employees are rude, the family unit is nothing like it was, no one wants to get involved, and during my stay having cousins there not one called know I was from the mainland not knowing the system there which is horrible gave a call to ask if I needed help of any kind. There is no respect, high crime, no jobs, bad roads, they approach you as angels but with bad intentions so one has to watch their backs. If one leaves a house empty, be careful since they will steal the windows, wiring and plumbing just to sell it for six cent a pound at a salavage yard. Even lawyers don't do what they say, they speak to clients like one is stuipd, they same one thing do another like the rest. People complain but nothing is being done. Cost of living milk is at six dollars a gallon, electric service is twice as much as the mainland at 24 cents a kwh. I can go on and on. I have two houses there from inheritance and can't wait to sell them. I will go back but only at a resort with tourist eyes since yes the island is beautiful but the culture there is ruined nothing like when my parents lived there. The situation there is a crying shame... Just to warn you...
