Jane Dean writes as Wordgeyser. She is part of an anglo/american family who live in four countries on two continents, separated by distance, time zones and circumstance. (She started her family at an incredibly young age. Obviously.) She was born in the UK, naturalised as an American and is currently based in The Netherlands. Living in a new country, adapting to a new culture, can be refreshing, enlightening or beyond frustrating depending on your attitude or what has gone wrong on any given day. Finding a sense of equilibrium and creating a new life can be stimulating, scary and incredibly challenging. The essentials for the journey? An open mind, a ready smile (even if it's through gritted teeth) and a dark sense of humour... While this blog aims to be upbeat and positive there are occasional topics with darker undertones - living overseas, away from family and beyond comfort zones, can, and does, present unique and unexpected challenges.
