About me

My hometown is Okinawa, Japan. When I turned 17 my family and I moved to Washington where I attended university. After graduating and holding down a couple of company jobs, I relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where I accepted a job offer. I stayed with the company for more than a year and from there I moved to my current residence near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Here I live with my husband and pursue learning the fourth language under my belt.

I can speak English, Japanese, Tagalog, basic German

My path

 Germany
Frankfurt

I am currently living in Germany since March 2009

My life & projects in this location:

I recently took my German A1 exam and passed. I can officially apply for permanent residence to live with my husband who is a German national.

My occupation:

I am in pursuit of an English-speaking job because my German is rather basic. Meanwhile, I remain open to do freelance work.

What I like about this destination:

I love that Frankfurt am Main is an international city with many expatriates floating around. Kleinmarkthalle is my favorite place to go.

What I don't like about this destination:

Where can I find an AUTHENTIC Japanese restaurant? I am a Japanese food snob with roughly 17 years of "living in Japan" experience under my belt (21 years if you include my living with other Japanese roommates for all 4 years of college). I must have traveled to 30-something U.S. states and the best authentic Japanese restaurant I have ever visited outside of Japan was located in Las Vegas and Hawaii. So where can I find a good place in Germany? =(

My life & projects in this location:

I worked for a online Fortune 100 company based in Henderson, NV. Here I met and made a good number of wonderful friends. My husband and I had an impromptu wedding at the Las Vegas city hall and celebrated afterward at our favorite restaurant with a couple of friends.

My occupation:

What I liked about this destination:

Osaka, Japanese Bistro, our favorite restaurant in Las Vegas. I fell in love with the restaurant very quickly. It reminded me of home.

What I didn't like about this destination:

It was too hot.

 Japan
Okinawa

I lived in Japan from December 1982 to September 1999

My life & projects in this location:

This is my hometown, the bearer of all my childhood memories from the earliest recollection to the last.

My occupation:

Infant, baby, toddler, pre-schooler, grade-schooler, junior high schooler, high schooler.

What I liked about this destination:

The diverse food and culture - Okinawa isn't only Japanese. It is a mesh of Japanese, Okinawan, Chinese, and Filipino cultures. Then there are the U.S. military bases that add a pinch of American culture. Okinawa is to Japan as Hawaii is to America.

What I didn't like about this destination:

Humidity.
