jransier a participé à la discussion would like to move to rwanda sur le forum Rwanda

Greetings Mel and Nicki,
My name is Joanna. I'm in Kigali and relocating here from the US. To me the opportunities are abundant. I took an early retirement to be here and haven't regretted it at all. The visa issue was a bit of a challenge for me and I have no idea what it would involve for you.
My suggestion is to come and take a look around giving yourself enough time to do some indepth information gathering. There is land available and new, innovative projects are showing up all the time. You might get even more ideas than you have now.
You might also want to post on a yahoo group called Kigali Life. Even if you don't post, reading it would give you some ideas of what's going on and some people to contact directly.
You are welcome to email me at excusebuster[at]gmail.com as I don't get on this page regularly.
Best Wishes and I hope to see you in Kigali. It's the best!!!

jransier a participé à la discussion prospectus for a private hospital establishment sur le forum Rwanda

Greetings, I will make a note of the doctor's name when passing the hospital and email it to you. When I visit there I will ask about the process he followed to open the hospital. It's quite a large building but maybe not all of the building is the hospital.
I have contacted the man in India who is on the Rwanda Board of Development and he has given me permission to give you his contact info. He is probably a much better (and geographically closer) resource for you. His name is Clarence Fernandez. clavinmarketing[at]gmail.com is his email. I hope this is helpful in furthering your market research. Let me know if you make a trip to Rwanda so we can meet up.
Warm Regards

Greetings, There are private hospitals here as well as government run hospitals. The need is great but I don't know about the economics of a private hospital. You may want to contact the Ministry of Health and Rwanda DEvelopment Board. There is a doctor from India who has started an eye hospital. I haven't visited there yet but intend to because I may need cataract surgery. I am a registered nurse from the US.
Hope this keeps you interested in Rwanda.

Hello,
I'm a nurse for the US living in Kigali at the present time. I plan on being here permanently and so always interested in the state of affairs. I don't really understand your comment since there are many pharmacies scattered around. Some are very limited in the medicines they offer and others are quite extensive.
I'm interested in hearing more about your concerns and brainstorming possible solutions.
Warm Regards
Joanna

Hi Talor,
I completely understand your love affair with Africa. I had the same experience in 2007 and it took me 4 years to get to a place in my life that I could transition here. I would love to support your efforts in getting here. Please give me a little more information about yourself such as how long you were here for, how you plan to prepare yourself, what your financial status will be when you get here, what your social and business network is, how much you know about getting your visa etc.
I'm happy to share the experiences I've had and learnings that came out of them.

As you may or may not know there is a considerable group of people from India.

jransier a participé à la discussion Weather sur le forum Rwanda

Greetings,
My name is Joanna. I'm from the US and relocating to Rwanda. I have been in both of the rainy seasons and it was quite an adjustment since I am from the desert in Southern Calif.
Here's what I've learned. It rains almost daily, mostly in the afternoons and especially when it's hot in the morning. This makes it a challenge to dress accordingly. If you dress for the heat of the morning, it gets chilly and sometimes even down right cold when the rain comes. You must always take an umbrella because it doesn't just sprinkle. It pours torrentially, dumping a lot of water in a short time. The rain lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours and results in delayed appointments because the buses sometimes sit until it lightens up. It can get very windy as well. The perfect wrap is a fine gauge knit wool sweater. Wool keeps you warm even if it's wet and if a fine knit can be folded up in your back pack. If you live on a dirt road, the mud can be horrible. Some roads are well packed and smooth but most are full of dips and potholes. The mud is slipper similar to ice and cars even get stuck.
In my opinion, your best bet on when to be there is at the beginning or ending of the dry season. That way you'll at least get the minimal rain (every few days) and some good weather in between.
I hope this is helpful. You are welcome to contact me on my private email: excusebuster[at]gmail.com
I am writing a book called Insider's Guide to Kigali for Newcomers and am happy to share what I've put together so far. I love Rwanda and enjoy helping others to have a 'soft landing' and adjust as easily as possible.

Hi Kate,
Well, it's summer. Are you here? I've been here for one month and staying with a local family. I'm a nurse from the US looking to relocate here. I'm in love with Rwanda. I'm of the retirement generation and feel very safe. I've made friends, both Rwandan and International. I find most everyone here very friendly. I don't go out at night much because of a problem with night vision. It's dark on the streets at night and traffic doesn't stop for pedestrians. I'd be happy to connect with you and share what I've learned etc. My cell is 0784722030. I look forward to hearing from you. If you call please remind me how you got my number and I'll remember. I am also looking for leads to volunteer and it's pretty easy.
