Hi, I'm Chris (26 M), from London. I'm working as an English teacher in Shanghai and am looking to meet likeminded people to build up a network of friends in the city. I'm not looking to meet people for business networking or anything else cynical like that; I'm simply looking to meet people I can share a genuine connection with. Having lived my whole life in London, I was lucky enough to enjoy a very strong and stable group of great friends, so, naturally, leaving all that behind has been very difficult. Living and working abroad presents a fantastic challenge and opportunity but, without friends to enjoy the ride with, it's all meaningless. I'm looking to meet people interested in discussing politics, especially those who are to the left of the spectrum. My favourite talking points are the wretched iniquities of free market capitalism, possible methods of remedying those inequalities, and the fate of anti-capitalist, anti-austerity groups that are blossoming around the world. As an aside, it may seem ironic that I have chosen to work in Shanghai of all places, but I'm here with my girlfriend, who is a Chinese national. I'm also interested in music, especially progressive rock, jazz fusion, jam bands, 90s alternative rock, blues, folk and some political hiphop. I play guitar, and am currently saving up to buy myself one in Shanghai. Being without that creative outlet is torturous. Other strong interests include: Chinese culture, travel, sport (football, cricket and badminton), cooking, walking, exploring street food in China and savouring a good beer. I'm looking to meet people of a similar age (I'm 26), and with similar politics and interests. Gender, race, nationality are utterly irrelevant, as long as you can communicate in English! Look forward to meeting you soon!
