Masi posted on the thread Cost of living in the Lesotho on the Lesotho forum

Hi

I am a Lesotho Citizin and live in Lesotho; in my early thirties.I was born in Maseru and I am currently working in the same place.

Cost of Living
Life in this country is very cheap in general. However I lack comparison since I have'nt travelled a lot. For comparison purposes; South Africa still holds most of our Economic Characteristics since our survival depends generally upon the Economic Fluctuations of SA. In a nut-shell; Our Loti (currency) is paged into the South African Rand. Therefore there is an equality of measure in as far as the Rand fluctuations towards the major currencies is concerned. We depend basically on the imports from the SA in most of the needs.

A simple Loaf of Bread would cost one a R7.00 in a town shop. that would be in a freshly baked Shoprite while the other parts of the country would provide the not-so-fresh loaf with almost a R2.00 extra. Chicken is one of the cheapest meats at R38.00 for 2KG in a village shop.

Travelling around the country is easier by Taxis if one does not own a car of his/hers. and for that matter; it could be one of the most effective way through which one could get to know people around. Thus it can be wise to pack it away once and get into a Taxi. The lowest rate is R3.50 in a Mini bus Taxi for the distance not exceeding 7 kilometers.

Time is not on my side.

Julien

I find it very embarrasing to be urging you to get back to the net while I eventually go silent myself. It seems it is just between the two of us. Hence why! However I have just discovered someone who is interested in Lesotho  at last. I almost thought we live in an unwanted Zone.

Cool Now.

Hi Julien
Sorry I thought we are only on the Lesotho Forum so I could use my Home language. I am trying to call my brothers and sisters who are in the List of the expat network  Lesotho to participate in the discussion. By the way: I have not been able to retrieve another message by the newly registered expat in Lesotho. He has a new topic: Likoena tse nyane. what should I do to get it?

I am a Citizen of Lesotho who has been in this country for as long as I can remeber: my entire life time. I have got a lot of information about my home country, but the questions will guide me for anyone who is interested in being here. Go ahead and I let you understand how easy and cheap it is to take your vacation in the Mountain Kingdom.

Guys, I almost don't know what else to say. But I am glad to be part of this forum. I will shortly go through the inserts. Can I Just tell you that I am enjoying the cool morning lazy breeze out here. Any way since the sun is out of sight again today, I am at ease.

I will get back to the web again and see if we are still hooked.

Interesting to realize how much help there is out there

I Accidentally happened to get into this site. but i dont regret it. I am in Maseru Lesotho; my homeplace, Australia has caught my attention for a place of my destinations within a measurable time. How are the job prospects that side? alternatively, the opportunities for funded studies (Prefferably: Masters in the Economic Line, to patch up on my basic BA in Economics with a minor in Statistics)

Anyone on Board for assistance!
