My full name is Sony Jean, I am Haitian, I'm from Petit Goave. I'm married and I have a three-year-old daughter. I'm a graduate student from the Faculty for Applied Linguistics and World English Institute. Besides English, I speak French and I know a little Spanish. Prior to the earthquake I used to teach English to little infants but in January 2010 I left teaching for a while in oder to help non-governmental organizations with my interpretation and translation skills. First, in January 2010 I was hired by Relief International as an interpreter for American doctors and nurses and also as a surveyor for the shelter project until the end of my contract on July 26. Then I moved to CARE-HAITI in Léogâne where I worked both as a translator and interpreter in the shelter department from July 26, 2010 to June 30, 2011. Recently, I have worked as a reporting officer in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent located in Maïs Gaté. Currently, I'm a freelance translator and interpreter. On the weekend I teach kids how to speak and write English.
I joined expat.com on 28 December 2014.
