Index is gone and now they have informa.  Informa has a lot of modern furniture and depending on the items the prices are reasonable.  Some items are not cheap and the quality is not as good, but some are decent.  The store I introduced below ART ERA is long gone.  I have not found other inexpensive furniture stores that sell good quality furniture unfortunately.
I bought a replica of Eames chair by Herman Miller at Informa and I'm happy with it.

It's been a while since you posted, so you probably don't need answer any more, but if you want more of an inexpensive furniture, Index has some modern furniture.  It has some furniture somewhat similar to IKEA, but it's no IKEA.  It has some interesting stuff, but the prices are a bit higher at Index.  I love IKEA, so I was a bit disappointed by Index, but it's not bad.   Kemang Timur is a row of furniture order made stores.  There are tons and tons.  There is one store that I know.  it's called ART ERA.    It's having a closing sale.  You might want to check it out since you find great deals there right now.  You can find out the information here.  I hope this is helpful.

If you are looking for high end modern furniture, I love KOI gallery.  They have really beautiful furniture.

Good luck!

Chuzai Living posted on the thread living in Malaysia vs. Indonesia on the Indonesia forum

I have only visited Kuala Lumpur, so I can only write from a visitor's perspective, but it looks like it's easier to live in KL than in Jakarta.  I love living in Jakarta though.  Jakarta is a vibrant city with many interesting aspects of a city life, but compared to Kuala Lumpur, life is more difficult.  KL is more developed, cleaner, has better public transportation, easier to travel to other cities and countries, and so forth.  There are a lot of negative media coverage about Indonesia unfortunately, but I think it sounds worse than it actually is sometimes.  I would recommend looking at the safety aspect of life in both cities as a woman.  I have never lived in KL, so I can't really compare, but KL seems pretty safe to me.  I find Jakarta pretty safe despite the reputations.  I hope you'll hear from more people.  Good luck!

Hell Ii will possibly me moving to Malaysia next year, and wanted some advice related to housing. What is a safe area to live?
Are there serviced apartments in Kuala Lumpur like in Hong Kong for expats?
Do they have a good public transport system?
Is Kuala lumpur a better place to live than Jakarta in Indonesia? I see a lot of negative news on Indonesia (flooding, cyclones, anti-christians attacks) and it concerns me, somif I could choose I would prefer Kuala Lumpur.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Where to buy jars in Jakarta

I saw someone post a question about a store to buy jars, but I cannot find it, so here's my post to answer the question. I hope she'll see this.

You can find jars on this website.

It's an online store which my Indonesian friend showed me.  You might have to speak Bahasa Indonesia. If  you don't and need help, my friend can help you communicate.  This is another photo of the jar.

I heard good things about Discovery Center in Mentang.  I have met people who send their kids to Tutor Time Preschool as Yud listed above as well.

Hi, Stephanie, welcome (back) to Jakarata!  Il y a beaucoup de français qui habitent à Jakarta Selatan parce qu'ils préfèrent à vivre près de l'école fransaise.  It must be interesting to rediscover the city again.  Bon chance!
