Volunteer activities with NGO CENPRODIC (Peru)

We are a cusquenian NGO that have been working for more than 25 years to improve Andean rural populations living conditions.
During those years, our association completed successfully projects in the agricultural and environment protection field. Nowadays, we are developing a new line of action with an alternative tourism project. In this frame, we are operating a volunteer program (for short, medium and long term) and we are looking for various profiles of volunteers.
This program is trying to avoid the negative aspects of the “voluntourism” striving to offer activities that, first of all, meet our beneficiaries’ needs but that also help our volunteer to grow from a human and even a professional point of view.
Regarding the practical aspects of the collaboration, we do not charge any participation fees. Indeed, we consider that the time and competency investment done by the volunteer is already considerable. However, since we are a small structure, we cannot offer any financial or fringe compensation to the work. Therefore, as well as his/her travel expenses, once in the country, volunteer will be asked also to participate the following fees:
1. Accommodation fees if the volunteer decides to stay in our infrastructures (about 450. - Soles per month). Nevertheless, if he/she so wish, the volunteer can also organize his/her accommodation on his/her own.
2. Possible transportation fees if the activity request many travels to the beneficiary communities.
3. Possible additional fees if we need to buy material to do the activity.
Of course, we will do our best to reduce these fees as much as possible. And they will be detailed and discussed with the volunteer before his/her arrival.
