The sponsored visa enables people to live and work in Australia up to 4 years.
The duration of your visa depends on the duration of the contract you signed with an Australian employer.
In order to get a sponsored visa, you need first to find a sponsor, hence an Australian employer wanting to hire you.
It roughly takes 2 months to get a sponsored visa, that’s why Australian employers are often reluctant to start such procedures for foreign workers.
Sponsored visas are delivered upon certain conditions, and requirements are as follow: a good level of English (the applicant must score at least 4.5 to the IELTS International English Language Testing System for certain types of visa) and particular skills in a specific field of expertise. At the same time, your employer must prove to the authorities that no Australian worker is available to fill up the position.
Fees apply for both the applicant and the employer.
Sponsored visa holders are not eligible for the public health system. As a result, the employer has to make sure that the foreign worker has a private health insurance.
