It’s quite simple and easy to open a bank account in Australia.
You will be eligible to open your bank account if you score at least 100 points: for instance, a birth certificate is worth 70 points, a driving licence with picture and signature is worth 40 points, a Medicare Card is worth 30 points etc.
If you open your bank account within 6 weeks after your arrival in Australia, a valid passport could be sufficient. In any case, you must have a valid address in the country.
A debit card will be delivered without any difficulty. However, if you’re not a permanent resident in Australia, you may be denied a credit card. A credit card could nonetheless be delivered upon several criteria such as your profession, your level of income etc. The use of checks is quite limited in the country.
There are many banks in Australia. Check your current bank to get information about partnerships that could exist between your banking network and an Australian bank.
