There are many universities in Quebec, some of which amongst the most prestigious in Northern America. Many curriculum are available, in French as in English, within a pleasant and multicultural student atmosphere. There are also technical and business schools in Quebec, as well as several universities outside Montréal.
There are several steps to take in order to study in Quebec. First, choose a studying curriculum from one of the higher-education institutions and send the registration form you will have carefully filled in with all the documents required, along with your payment for processing fees if need be.
Once your registration form is reviewed, you will receive an acceptance letter from the institution you selected. You will then have to apply for a Quebec acceptance certificate for study (CAQ) at the MICC (Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles) by providing proof of financial capacity or sufficient funds to cover expenses during your studies. You will be able to apply online for a study CAQ by filling in the form at http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/. Some fees are associated with CAQ application.
At the same time as your CAQ application, you will have to apply for a student visa at the Canada embassy or consulate in your country. A medical examination form will be mailed to you, and, upon arrival in Quebec, you will have to make an appointment with a certified doctor (a list will be provided) and bring this form along with you for the required medical examination.
Scholarships are available to foreign students. For more information regarding scholarships, refer to your school or university to learn about possible partnership or exchange programs with Quebec ; refer to the web site of the school or university you have selected under the « foreign students » section ; also check the web site of the Canada Embassy in your country for available scholarships.
