Ready to start your expat experience in one of the largest cities in Romania? Brasov is a principal touristic attraction in the country. Its popularity comes from the nearby resorts, the central position in the country and the welcoming atmosphere. Have an overlook of the accommodation here.

Popular neighbourhoods in Brasov

When it comes to picking an area to live in Brasov, you should take a look at the Racadau (Valea Cetatii today). This is the quietest neighbourhood in Brasov and the most popular along with the Old centre. They are basically the two sides of the Tampa Hill, and also the closest to the most important attractions of the city. More so, people voted Racadau as the cleanest neighbourhood in Romania, with the cleanest air in the country.

Brasov is divided into 15 neighbourhoods, with narrow roads and small houses. Of course, you will also find ancient buildings. Despite the Radacau, you can stay in Noua-Dârste, which is the newest district and the greenest, or Șcheii Brasovului, which is the oldest area, with lots of history.

What to expect from the accommodation in Brasov

In terms of accommodation, you will find an active, large expat community. The housing options are surrounded by lakes, parks, and also a variety of options for their spare-time. The architecture of the city has medieval elements you can enjoy every day. Also, for those who are passionate about winter sports, Poiana Brasov Ski Park and Aventura Park are just a few kilometres away.

 Good to know:

One of the best parts of Brasov is the well developed public transportation system. Also, taxis are generally cheap, so it will be easy to move from one place to another.

How to find accommodation in Brasov

The best way to look for accommodation in Brasov is via real estate agencies. These consulting agencies offer recommendations on the best neighbourhoods, the housing options and the prices that suit your budget - which will save you lots of time. With all this, the agency is the most economical way to go for apartment hunting.

On the other hand, you can look for the next home on the internet. There are lots of specialised websites you can browse through. Here you can compare the prices, the areas of living, and the facilities.

 Good to know:

It is not the best choice, but you can also check the classified ads in the local newspapers. However, you should pay attention to a bad practice in Romania: some adverts are posted by real estate agencies that claim to be the owners of the property.

Rent prices in Romania

Since it is a tourist city, Brasov might have more expensive rents than other cities from this country. However, compared with Western Europe or the US, it is still a cheap city to live in.

Rent prices in Brasov are lower, compared with rents in Bucharest, but higher than in other small cities, such as Galati or Targu Mures. Fortunately, there are so many options that it's hard not to find an accommodation that suits your budget. For instance, the monthly rent for 85 square meters in a very good area is around 550 euros, while in a normal are, it would be 320 euros.

Lease conditions and procedures in Brasov

The lease conditions are the same as in most of the cities in Romania. The tenant and the owner will sign a contract of loan for use or a rental contract. There they will establish the monthly rent, the warranty, along with an inventory of the objects in the house.
