Milan, an ancient capital in the XXI century

If you ask most Italians about the beauty of Milan, they'd probably describe the city as grey and dull. On the contrary, behind the smog, that is nevertheless romantic, is hidden a treasure that dates back to the Roman Empire. The city is even more ancient, but it was during the III century A.D. that Milan became the second and eventually the first city of the West, surpassing even Rome when the Imperial Court was indeed moved to Milan. Traces of her glorious past could still be visited in the archeological park Alda Levi, where the ruins of the amphitheater could still be admired, as well under the building of the Stock Exchange, or along the Columns of San Lorenzo. If you'd look around, apart those precious relics, you'll find yourself in the middle of a modern and fashionable city. Mixing some visit to the past with club and gourmet food in the bistros of the city center could be a good idea where to get acquainted to the city as well to new international friends.
