If you're fully prepared, everything can go very fast regarding your job search in Ireland: send prospective applications, use the Internet, register with temporary staffing agencies, use your “network”, read classified ads in the press etc. There are many options available to you! Write your CV according to Irish standards: put forward your professional experience, find equivalents to your degrees or diplomas etc. Write your cover letter along local standards, be clear and concise, put forward your ambition and your motivation in line with the job your are applying to. Anti-discrimination laws also allow you to put your photo on your CV if you want to. An Irish CV contains about 3 or 4 pages although there are no real standard rules on this issue. Increasingly however, cover letters tend to slowly disappear in Ireland; people usually send an email to the recruiter with a simple description of their CV. It's up to you to decide whether you want to send a cover letter or not!
You can also visit career fairs that are frequently organized in the country. Career fairs are the best ways to directly meet recruiters from various economic sectors. Bring your CVs with you and meet the companies you are interested in!
Finally, don't hesitate to visit your local FAS center. Apart from providing job listings, they will support you in your job hunt and help you with the administrative procedures (if you are eligible and according to your status in Ireland).

If you wish to register with an employment agency in Ireland, you have first to register with the Department of Justice. This is a mere formality. The permanent residence permit is not required.
