Living in the Virgin Islands guide for expats

The climate is hot and humid, and temperatures are between 31°C in the summer and 22°C in the winter. From June to November, hurricanes are common in the Virgin Islands.

The three main islands that make up the Virgin Islands are St Croix, St John, and St Thomas. There is plenty to do on each island; on St Croix you'll find excellent golf facilities and museums; St John is home to a large national park, and St Thomas has a lively nightlife scene. Dance and folk music are an essential part of the Virgin Islands' culture, and there are carnivals and parades throughout the year.

Charlotte Amalie is the capital city, located on the island of St John. Cobbled streets lead the way to the beautiful beaches, and cruise ships dock in the busy ports regularly. The city is filled up with history ' museums, castles, and forts are spilling tales of what has happened before, and grand government buildings are whispering of the past but speaking of future.

With over three million tourists visiting the island every year, it may come as no surprise that tourism is the biggest industry for the islands.
