About Saint Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, located on the larger island of Saint Kitts, is the capital city of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the country's tourist and cultural hub. Saint Kitts' preeminent commercial port welcomes international cruises full of enthusiastic people who are there to enjoy a pleasant climate, a volcanic scenery, and idyllic beaches.

The temperatures in Saint Kitts and Nevis are between 28°C and 24°C. The rainy season is from May to November, and hurricanes impose a risk between July and October.

The majority of Saint Kitts' population is of African descent and speaks English. British and French settlers arrived at Saint Kitts and Nevis before they did arrive at other Caribbean islands, making these islands the birthplace of the first European colonies in the region. Thus, Saint Kitts and Nevis is also known as 'The Mother Colony of the West Indies'.

Saint Kitts and Nevis' economy was once dependant on sugarcane, but after many years of financial losses, the industry closed in 2005. However, the government continues to invest in the agriculture industry to make up for the job cuts ' rice, yams, and vegetables are amongst some of the most common exports. Other important sectors are the manufacturing, construction, and services. But overall, the most important sources of revenue is tourism and offshore finances.
