Jazz for all
Mama Jaz stands out for its commitment to making jazz accessible to the widest possible audience. The first part of the festival, entirely free of charge, takes place every Sunday at the Creative Park in Beau-Plan. In an idyllic setting, comfortably seated on the grass, the public can savor quality jazz concerts, whether they are a seasoned amateur or simply curious.
Exceptional Gran Konser
The Mama Jaz festival is also known for its Gran Konser, paid evenings held at the Caudan Arts Centre. This venue offers exceptional acoustics and cutting-edge production resources, allowing for extraordinary musical experiences.
A rich and diverse program
This year, the Gran Konser offered a rich and varied program, highlighting talented artists from around the world.
Tania Giannouli (April 3): This classically trained Greek pianist explores jazz with overflowing creativity, brilliantly blending improvisation and composition.
Desorder (April 10): This lively Mauritian trio set the Caudan Arts Centre stage on fire with an authentic and original performance, imbued with sincerity.
Sumrra (April 17): This trio from Spain transported the audience into a universe where depth and lightness, tradition and modernity intertwine.
An evolving festival
Over the years, the Mama Jaz festival has continued to evolve and refine itself, offering an ever richer and more diverse musical experience to the Mauritian public. With its quality programming and friendly atmosphere, Mama Jaz is a must-attend event for all jazz lovers.
Closing the festival in style
To conclude the festival in style on Wednesday, April 24, Mama Jaz is pleased to welcome Later Lesiel, a Mauritian musical creation led by the talented composer and multi-instrumentalist Manu Desroches. For this ambitious adventure, the team has brought together an ensemble of extraordinary artists: Jalill Sheik Auckbaraullee on drums and percussion, Gino Chantoiseau on musical direction and bass, Manu Desroches on composition, vocals, guitar and percussion, Patrick Desvaux on guitar and Jhonny Joseph on drums and percussion. Together, they promise a captivating and unforgettable performance. An event not to be missed!
The very last MA MA PIK NIK session will take place in Beau Plan this Sunday. On the agenda for this outdoor and BYOB session: DJs Matsonic and Group Elektrik.
