¿What do I do all day?   American in Mexico
This blog is in response to the first thing people invariably ask me when I tell then that we have retired to Mèrida. We had originally planned to rent for a year while we traveled through out South and Central America. But as Husband says "No plan survives contact with the enemy". Now that our house is in the longterm maintence phase we plan to travel as much as we can. Welcome to my world and daily life. Theresa

Mexico "Way"   Canadian in Mexico
After coming to Cancun on several vacations and taking a "3 month trial living period" in Cancun, I finally moved for the long haul in 2002. While the sun and sand make Cancun a great place to live, there are constant battles along the way and I have no problem complaining about them right here on my blog!

La Belle Aurore, my homemade life in Mexico, Natural health with lots of butter!!   Canadian in Mexico
La Belle Aurore, my homemade life in Mexico%u2026 I moved from the french Canadian side to Mexico in 2006 and made a life for myself here ever since. One day, while I was walking downtown historical Querétaro in Mexico, I spotted a handmade bar of soap. What a wonderful smell that little package priced at 35 pesos gave to my nose. I said to myself, if somebody here in the middle of nowhere can make handmade soap, so can I! In September the same here, I went back to Canada for a month and learned by myself via internet, how to make soap. Via trial and lots of errors and almost 3 years after, I did make soaps and wonderful ones if I may say so myself. I have published a book of soap %u2018Notebook of a soapmaker on a budget%u2026%u2019 in June 2009 and also a 14 months 2010 %u2018My handmade soaps calendar . Making soaps is a no way return, once I have touched and learned how to make this wonderful product for the skin, I want to keep on making tons of them and keep them all to myself%u2026 In 2007, the idea of making a cookbook crossed my mind and after working one year and half on the idea, I did publish %u2018La Belle Aurore%u2019 a cooking book regrouping old and new recipes from my french family and my friends. This year, I have published a 14 months calendar 2010 of Homemade cookies, including beautiful pictures and the recipes for each one of them. So this blog is all about my homemade life here in Mexico, away from home. See you in the kitchen!
