In March of 2007, I left my life, my job, my friends and my family back in Portland, Oregon and moved to the French countryside southwest of Paris. Haute Pyrenees
Snippets from our smallholding in SW France: Labartere   British in France
Describing our adventures and experiences as we cope with: learning to be self sufficient, trying to speak at least two French words in a row with the local people, remaining patient with the process of trying to rescue our ruin of a home, and generally adapting to a completely different lifestyle to the one we had in the UK. Which includes having no shower, no loo (porta-potties being great stand-ins, or should it be 'sit-ons'!), water from a hosepipe, and loads of extension leads rolling round the place for our electrical supplies to our caravan. It's a great life! And well worth the effort of relocating.

Real France offers advice, stories, observations, deep thoughts, tips, recommendations, practical information and links as well as photos and videos.
