Seashells and Sunflowers

Welcome to my journey from the suburbs of Philadelphia to the seaside city of Necochea. Join me as I discover the joys, difficulties and frustrations of picking up and moving a world away. I'll also share my musings and reflections on Argentine culture and current events from the perspective of an extranjera.

Hi Earl, I still have many years ahead of me before retirement, but I imagine that you could probably live quite well in Argentina on a fixed-income retirement, depending of course on the amount and what kind of lifestyle you're anticipating in retirement. From what I understand, the Argentine government recently did away with the option for retirees to become permanent residents, so you'd always be operating as a temporary resident. I am not entirely certain what obstacles this would create for you in terms of living here, although I am certain that there are thousands of Americans living in Argentina without permanent residency. I would suggest posing specific questions on the BA Newcomers forum: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BANewcomers/ There are other retirees on that forum who could probably assist you better than I can. Best of luck with your planning!

i would like to retire to a small quiet town in argentina. after a lot of reading i believe argentina is the best place to retire on a fixed income and to spend the rest of my time with peace and quiet. any knowledge on this would be helpful. thanks.(: earl
