Kiwification

This site is a cataloging of our experiences “becoming Kiwis”. In many ways, moving to New Zealand is easier than living in New Zealand. (After the excitement of the move itself has worn off, there are cultural and environmental shifts to make. You need a house, job, friends, etc. You need a life.) Prior to immigrating, we received bucket loads of advice and resources from “pre-kiwified” friends in New Zealand, and continue to discover new and helpful tips and nuggets of wisdom. Kiwification is my attempt to share this information.

My name is David Young. In 2007, after our house burned down, my wife and I gave away or sold all of our remaining possessions, and packed the remainder into three suitcases. On New Year’s Eve, we boarded a plane, left family and friends in South Africa, and moved to New Zealand. We wanted a better lifestyle, a safer environment for our future children. We’re convinced we’ve found both here in New Zealand.

My wife and I are very interested in visiting and possibly moving to New Zealand for a safer, friendlier, and better quality of life. She is in her mid 20's and I am 35. We don't have children but plan to start soon. Finding a job in New Zealand is our first priority. We would not want to make the move there without a secure job. Can you recommend a job recruiters in New Zealand? Do you know of any companies in the medical sales/pharmaceutical sales industry or sales management/account management? I am going to do my research on the web also. Best regards, Drew

I'm a lawyer who started a very successful children's museum in the states. I also taught courses in American government in the UMaine system. I'm looking for work in New Zealand and want to get advice on finding work.
