There are several thousand Americans living in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area, there's a strong expat community here. To tap into it I recommend reaching out to the International Women's Club of Cancun: http://www.iwccancun.com/ (they have an email list you can join). You should also join some of the local forums: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/index.php and http://www.cancunassist.com/newforum/viewposts.cfm are just two, there are several more (TripdAdvisor has one too).
Hope that helps, RiverGirl
I used to live there and am going back possibly to live again. Can you tell me about your experiences as in getting settled, etc? Also do you have another blog say on face? I really could use some advice and to know there are gringas living full time gives me hope. I'm a screenwriter hoping to be able to get back and yet work remotely.
