Trying to "blend in" while "taking it all in," an American Post-Grad student in Basel, Switzerland.

Hey, how's it goin? I just came across your blog whilst doing a google search on the city of Basel. I just recently returned from a year excursion to Germany. I was an exchange student in a small village near the larger German city of Mannheim in south-western Germany. Anyways, I now live in Reno, NV. As I came back I met and fell in love with a Swiss girl who was an Au Pair here in Reno for a year, and as the story goes she returned to Switzerland August of this year. It's a tragic love story I know haha. Anyways, we have been doing the whole long distance thing for quite sometime now, using webcams and the like. I now plan on visiting her in April as my funds allow me. So enough about me. My question for you is this... and of course I'd be grateful for any sort of response. Do you know of any Work-Exchange programs or cultural immersion programs, or funded academic exchanges? Or really any possibility to work over there. I'm desperate and don't want to lose this girl. I'm rather fluent in German, I haven't spoken for about a year now, so naturally I've forgotten a bit of vocab, but nothing I can't relearn. I appreciate any help you can provide. If you'd be so kind to maybe send me an email that you got this at least I'd be very happy. My email is mrpetebojangles@yahoo.com Thanks again.
