A Canadian's photos, travels and expat life in Madrid
Tags: photography, madrid, lavapies, travel
I'm a 30-something expatriate Canadian of mixed Asian ancestry who is tasting different flavours and dancing to different tunes in Madrid. I was born in Borneo but I grew up on the Canadian prairies. I got extra edumacated with a BFA in Writing on Vancouver Island. After a few years 'lost in transition', I finally decided to trade in the snow and cold for the dry, sunny navel of Spain in the summer of 2006. Life in Europe went from being a remote 'little girl dream' to a challenging reality as soon as my plane landed. These days, I like to go places and look at things. I take photos. I scribble in my black notebooks. And while I have kept journals all my life, this blog is my attempt at keeping a public notebook. I've been living in the multi-ethnic barrio of Lavapiés in Madrid, Spain for almost 3 years and these are my stories..
