About five years ago, Move One created the Expat Echo to help expats to successfully settle into life in Budapest. The first version, actually called Expat Success, was a monthly email news bulletin. It was available to help assignees that Move One had moved to Budapest, and our clients’ mobility and HR managers so that they could be sure that their employees were in good hands. Version two- later renamed Expat Echo- was still a monthly email, but it was made available to all expats living in Hungary, or anyone who signed up. Now, version three- an online magazine- takes all of the great feature articles and invaluable information that the Expat Echo is known for, and puts it in an easy to navigate, interactive format. Users can search for information- using popular tags, or keywords- comment on content, post events, buy and sell second hand goods, and ask other expats the answers to vital questions- like where can one buy decent tea? Ideas for content on the Expat Echo come from our own internal team as well as external sources such reader suggestions. With our Budapest office consisting of more than 40 expatriates as well as a relocation department specializing in assisting incoming (and outgoing) international assignees, the pool for ideas is almost bottomless. So instead of stressing about what to do in an emergency or what to tip the postman, expats can focus on making friends and starting a new life with ease, safe in the knowledge that the information they need is at their fingertips.
